Jo Laut Ke Ghar Naa Aaye...!
14th February, 2019. Valentine’s Day. The whole country, along with the world, was celebrating Love... the fuel that is much needed in today’s compassion-deprived era. The social media was flooded with mushy romance. The streets and malls were screaming bargain discounts for couples. The moral police was on a high alert mode. In short, everybody was contributing towards Valentine’s Day. But, for a select few, they had to come and spoil the party. They had to overpower Love with Terror, not just Hatred. They have scarred this otherwise symbolic day of Love, forever.
The 40+ bravehearts, who lost their lives, while in the Line of Duty, have made us rethink about our priorities. We can buy, probably, everything else in the world except for Health and Peace. And these brave Jawaans had to pay a hefty price for this peace. They laid down their lives, so we could celebrate Love and Life. They made the supreme sacrifice, so we could sleep peacefully in the comfort of our homes. They bore the brunt, so we could come back home to our families and loved ones. A lot of unsuspecting relationships died a very painful death. A son, a father, a brother, a husband, a friend. All gone in a jiffy.
For us ordinary citizens, it might be a momentary thing, before we go back to our daily slog for survival. The innocent lives that they have left behind them, have changed forever. India has lost her able sons, while fulfilling their promises to safeguard it against the cowardly perpetrators. We are not against the innocent citizens of Pakistan. But there lies the problem: Pakistan has always seen India’s sympathetic attitude as its weakness. It’s time we stand up to this heinous act of terrorism, in solidarity. It’s time we revenge the martyrdom of our brave soldiers. It’s time we retaliate.
No, we don’t want a Bharat Bandh or Candle Marches. It adds to the burden of the police force. We don’t want empty promises or hollow condemnation messages. They fade away within days. Enough said and done. It goes much beyond merely banning the cultural exchange or boycotting sports with them. The dastardly neighbour has crossed its line, time and again. It’s time for suitable retribution. If Pakistan thinks that it can get away with harbouring and nurturing terrorism, it’s high time India shows them who the Big Daddy is! India doesn’t start a war, but it sure knows how to end it! We need multiple surgical strikes to eliminate the terror groups in their own backyards. It needs to start with the heads of these terror groups. Masood Azhar might have gotten lucky during the unfortunate Kandahar episode. Hopefully we pick up some cues from Osama bin Laden’s operation. This will instill fear and apprehension amongst the extremists.
We, as aggrieved citizens of the nation, can try at our level to support the bereaved families, by contributing generously to the National Defence Fund, Bharat Ke Veer fund (idea conceived by Akshay Kumar) and the like. This will, at least, ensure that the dependents of these valiant soldiers are well taken care of. It naturally becomes our National Duty.
The media can actually show some respect and avoid goofing up in the name of Breaking News and increasing their TRPs. Baseless and mindless screaming won’t help the cause of the moment. Let’s be more sensitive towards the issue. The unanimous support shown by the International Community is much appreciated.
Jai Hind!
